Transgenic mouse technology, including embryonic stem cell and gene knockout techniques, has revolutionized the study of endocrinology by giving endocrinologists an effective set of tools for understanding endocrine physiology and pathology in vivo. In Transgenics in Endocrinology, a panel of expert clinical and basic investigators summarize the state-of-the-art in the use of this powerful technology in a broad range of endocrinological applications.
