In the middle east, it can be argued that in Kurdistan specifically, English language teaching has developed widely. English is being viewed as an important part of the curriculum at all school levels, institutes and universities and even in private language centers. There have been many studies presented on the barriers to learning English language in English as foreign language contexts, however, only a few number of them dealt with Kurdistan. Therefore, this study was conducted to study the obstacles that made learning English language challenging in Kurdistan.

Sana Yaseen Khudhur is currently a Ph.D. student at Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest-Hungary in the field of Intercultural Linguistics. She has taught ESOL Courses at UK colleges and worked as English Language Lecturer at Salahaddin University in Kurdistan.Her research interests are EFL,ESL and Teaching English Language to different cultures.
