Beschreibung
This edited volume looks at the language and communication challenges that arise in the workplace within the context of integration of immigrant (skilled) workers into the German labour market and the resultant consequences for schools and training. The high demand for qualifi ed skilled workers is frequently in confl ict with the complex requirements that are made of potential applicants in terms of their technical and occupational language abilities. The volume highlights the need for language-sensitive (specialist) tuition and for language teaching at companies providing training and within the scope of other occupational langua- ge training provision. Examples are used to portray aspects such as how target group-sensi- tive initial and continuing training measures are developed for teaching staff, trainers and volunteers and how learning contents are adequately prepared in terms of media didactics and language pedagogy.
